About True Worship
You may ask, “What does a school have to do with becoming a true worshipper“. Jesus revealed in John 4;
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.’

In this encounter with the Samaritan woman, The Messiah revealed that accurate knowledge of what you worship is foundational to true worship and He described those whose object of worship is tied to a physical building or mountain as lacking knowledge of what they worship.
Christ Jesus made a bold declaration: “We know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.” This statement implies that God, in His infinite wisdom, has revealed the mystery of worship throughout the history of the Jews, and this concept is vital to gaining a more accurate picture of who God is.
I ask that you take note of this point Jesus made: that “God is a Spirit”. Everything about true worship is built upon that framework, and as you read on, you will need this statement of truth to appreciate the referenced writings of Christ’s apostles.
God is no respecter of persons and does not prefer Jews over other tribes or peoples on the earth. Simon Peter, one of the foremost Jewish apostles of Christ, discovered this truth when he saw that the gift of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also, beginning with Cornelius the Roman centurion. (Acts 10)
He does, however, choose to clearly reveal His invisible attributes first through a select people on the earth (Rom. 1:19-20; Exod. 19); which may be correctly regarded as His preference for doing things. This is a model consistently used in creation and is evident throughout the entire Bible.
For example, God made the first man and woman—Adam and Eve. He also begot the last man (Christ) and woman (the Church). Lucifer was also not the only morning star (Isa. 14:12; Job 38:1-4, 7). Jesus declared in the Gospels, “The first will be last and the last will be first.”
‘Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’ So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”’
Matthew 20: 15-16 NKJV
Do not be worried if you find this reading a bit puzzling. Know, however, that this is foundational knowledge which, if misunderstood or unknown, prevents a believer from correctly appreciating what true worship is all about and why God seeks true worshippers.
This website exists to help you grow in the perfect knowledge of God. It is this knowledge that helps us understand why Jesus declared, “We know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews,” humbly counting Himself in the flesh as “one of them” or “one of us.”
Why did Christ do this? To teach us that God is interested in reconciling not only individual men but also entire tribes, languages, peoples, and nations—demonstrating that He was not ashamed to come through one of the people groups having a terrible historical record, in order to redeem us all.
‘And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”’
Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV
This gives hope to the most terrible and vile among us and reveals God’s wisdom in salvation. Such knowledge is excellent for bringing healing and reconciliation, proving worthy of the surrender of all our biases, tribalism, offenses, and racism.

Christ’s prophecy of the hour when worship would cease to be an issue of physical location or church buildings began to be fulfilled in His day, when God Himself appeared among men to tabernacle with them.
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

What better place to go or enter in to worship God than to enter into Him who fills all things, is before all things, is above all, through all, and in you? (Col. 1:16-19; Col. 3:1-4; Eph. 4:6)
This ultimate place of worship—Christ Jesus, where our lives are hidden in God and we are members of His body—is the perfect temple, as it is written:
“Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? For two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Your body is as much a part of you as your mind, soul, heart, and spirit are. What is the point of moving into this truth of the body being the temple of God? It is that the body also is in need of redemption and must be conformed to Christ’s death in order to experience Christ’s power of resurrection.
It is also that we are commanded by Jesus to love God with all we are. To worship God in spirit is to worship in submission to Christ Jesus, through whom we are able to appear in God’s presence. He declared in John 14:6:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.“

A place of worship has certain fundamental characteristics, and one of the foremost is that it must be “holy”—that is, “set apart” or “dedicated” to the One being worshiped. Since we are members of Christ, this is where our call to holiness demands urgent attention.
‘but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. ‘
1 Peter 1: 15-19 NKJV
Our perspective on where we stand relative to the truth is of key interest to our Lord and High Priest, Christ Jesus. In His interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well, He commended her for honestly admitting that the man she was living with was not married to her. Jesus tested her and she passed:
‘A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”
Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”
Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”‘

Music
Music is a powerful vehicle for expressing worship, and God seeks musicians and singers who will devote themselves to true worship. Worship is not just about musical expressions like singing, dancing, clapping, or playing instruments. These are only the fruits of our worship, and the quality of the fruit depends on the condition of the tree and its growth process.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
Colossians 3:16-17 NKJV
For the music coming from a person to be regarded by God as true worship, the individual must be living a life—or attempting to walk—free from pretense, hypocrisy, and falsehood, and they must be in Christ.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].
But all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him], “
